London Irish have confirmed the signing of former Argentina skipper Agustín Creevy with immediate effect.

Creevy is the most-capped player for Argentina with 89 Tests since his debut in 2005 and has represented them in the 2011, 2015 and 2019 World Cups.

The 35-year-old was appointed the captain of the Pumas in 2014 - a role which he held until 2018 - and led them in 49 Tests. He will head to the Exiles from Jaguares after the 2020 Super Rugby season was disrupted by the pandemic coronavirus.

“I am looking forward to joining London Irish and playing in England once again,” said Creevy in a statement released by the club.

“Declan spoke very highly of the club, the people and the direction they want to go. I can’t wait to join up with my teammates and to get stuck in.”

The 6ft hooker also has the experience of playing for Biarritz, Pampas XV, Clermont, Montpellier and Worcester Warriors before he joined Jaguares in 2016.

London Irish director of rugby Declan Kidney welcomed Creevy to the club and is confident that his experience will be handy as they aim to finish the 2019/20 season on a high.

“Agustin comes to London Irish with a fantastic amount of club and international experience," he said.

“Hopefully he can help to continue the journey that the club is on.”
