Lions ran an eight-try riot as they thrashed Southern Kings by 54-10 in their Super Rugby encounter at Emirates Airline Park on Sunday despite being one one man down for the majority of the game.

Lock Andries Ferreira (10'), Courtnall Skosan (18') and Kwagga Smith (40') were the try scorers in the first half for Lions while fly-half Elton Jantjies added conversions on two occasions to take the score to 24 points in the first half which also saw hooker Robbie Coetzee red-carded in the 30th minute.

Kings only response came through a penalty kick from Pieter-Steyn de Wet as they visitors trailed by 21 points at half time.

Despite, having one man less, Malcolm Marx (41'), Jacques Van Rooyen (49'), Smith (54'), Faf de Klerk (77') and Andries Coetzee (80') added further tries to complete a resounding 54-10 victory over Kings, whose only try came Luzuko Vulindlu.

Lions continue to top Africa 2 Conference while Kings languish at the bottom in the same group.
