Force 15-24 Lions, NIB Stadium
Lions recorded their eighth victory this season as they completed a 15-24 triumph over Force in their Super Rugby encounter at NIB Stadium on Saturday.
Lionel Mapoe and Courtnall Skosan scored the tries in the sixth and 35th minutes respectively for Lions with Jantjies adding extras on both the occasions to take them to 14 points responding to which scrum half Ian Prior kicked three penalties to bring down the difference between the two teams to five points at half time.
The third quarter of the game saw Jantjies and Prior exchange penalties as the five point lead of Lions remained intact.
Prior's fifth penalty came in the 65th minute and it raised the hopes of Force as they reduced the trail to two points. Just as the game was heading for close finish, Jantjies held his nerve in a crucial converted try in the added minutes to seal a nine point win for Lions.
The result meant Lions continue to top Africa 1 Conference while Force are at fourth in Australian Conference.
