Lions scored 10 points in the closing stages as they came from behind to win their Super Rugby encounter against Jaguares by 24-21 at Emirates Airlines Park on Friday.

Matias Orlando started the proceedings for Jaguares with a third minute try followed by a conversion from Nicolas Sanchez to make it 7-0.

Centres Harold Vorster and Lionel Mapoe replied back with a try each in a span of 11 minutes while Elton Jantjies added double conversion to take a seven point lead for Lions at half time.

Jaguares scored more intent at the start of the second half with Rodrigo Baez and Guido Petti Pagadizaval strolling past the post while Sanchez's double conversion meant the visitors reclaimed their seven point lead by 50th minute.

Despite, a setback for Lions, through a sin-bin to Vorster, they ensured they did not concede any point being one man short and as the game was nearing the closing stages, Ruan Ackermann scored a decisive try followed by a conversion from Jantjies to level the scores 21-21.

In the 77th minute Jaguares were penalised for illegal scrummaging and Jantjies slotted the penalty to seal a three point win for Lions.
