Back-row Leroy Houston has penned a new short-term deal with the Aviva Premiership club Bath.

The 29-year-old will now stay with the Recreation Ground based outfit until the end of the October. The former Australia Under-19 was earlier part of Bath for three seasons between 2013 and 2016 after which he re-joined the Super Rugby side Queensland Reds until 2018 season.

With the Super Rugby season ended, Houston has been released by the Reds for a short-term deal with Bath, who are currently without the back-row pair Taulupe Faletau and David Denton due to injuries.

Director of rugby at Bath, Todd Blackadder expressed his gratitude to the Reds for releasing Houston and hopes he can provide the club the cushion in the absence of the injured players.

"We're very excited for Leroy to be coming back to the club for a couple of months to give us some cover while we have a few injuries, and we are really thankful to Queensland for helping make this happen.

"He's a fantastic character and a brilliant player, and because he knows the place so well, we know he will settle straight back in and be a real asset for us."

With two wins from as many games, Bath are placed second in the Aviva Premiership table in the ongoing season.
