Leicester Tigers head coach Michael Cheika is set to appear before a Rugby Football Union (RFU) disciplinary panel on Tuesday following allegations of prejudicial conduct during his team’s recent Premiership match against Exeter Chiefs.

The RFU confirmed that the incident occurred on September 21, when Leicester secured a 17-14 victory despite playing the final minutes with 14 men due to Solomone Kata’s red card for a dangerous tackle in the 71st minute.

According to the RFU’s statement, Cheika is alleged to have disrespected the independent matchday doctor, leading to a breach of RFU Rule 5.12—conduct deemed prejudicial to the interests of the game or union.

Although specific details of the incident have not been disclosed, the seriousness of the situation has warranted a formal disciplinary hearing.

"Leicester Tigers head coach Michael Cheika is due to appear before an independent disciplinary panel for an alleged breach of RFU Rule 5.12 – conduct prejudicial to the interests of the game and/or union – in circumstances where he is alleged to have disrespected the Independent Matchday Doctor following the Exeter Chiefs v Leicester Tigers match on Saturday, September 21," read the RFU’s statement.

The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, with the outcome potentially impacting Cheika’s role and the club’s season ahead.
