Doncaster Knights have confirmed that number eight Jasper McGuire has signed a new deal for next season after an impressive campaign with the Championship club.
Jasper McGuire Signs New Doncaster Knights Deal
McGuire has emerged as an important figure for Doncaster this season, making a successful switch to the number eight role. The back-row forward has developed physically and technically in the position and has become a regular starter in the squad.
His strong form was recognised early in the campaign when he won the club’s Knight of the Month award in consecutive months, underlining the consistency of his performances.
Jasper McGuire Rugby Journey And Career Progress
McGuire began playing rugby union at school and also featured in rugby league for Newsome Panthers and Underbank Rangers.
He joined the Yorkshire Academy in 2017 and later continued his rugby development through university, spending four years with Northumbria University in BUCS Super Rugby before moving to Newcastle University while completing a Masters in Urban Planning.
In 2023, he was selected for the England Students squad and later signed his first professional contract with Saracens. He also gained Championship experience during a loan spell with Ampthill, making 13 appearances across league and cup competitions.
Doncaster Knights Keep Key Number Eight
McGuire has now made 40 appearances for Doncaster Knights and is on course to reach the 50-cap mark next season.
McGuire said he was proud to re-sign with Doncaster and is looking forward to the next chapter with a group he believes can deliver stronger results next season.
“I’m really happy and proud to have re-signed at Doncaster for next year. I’m looking forward to the new chapter and seeing what next season brings," he said.
"We have a great group of players and staff and next year will hopefully produce the results that everyone associated with the club can be proud of.”
