Doncaster Knights have confirmed that experienced back Telusa Veainu has signed a new deal to stay with the club for a third season.

Veainu has been an important attacking presence for Doncaster since arriving at the club and has continued to show the quality that made him a standout player at higher levels of the game.

His new contract keeps a proven performer at the Knights as they prepare for the next campaign.

Head coach Darren Fearn said Veainu’s influence goes beyond his obvious talent, pointing to the standards and leadership he brings within the squad.

“Telusa’s talent is obvious to anyone who’s seen him play. What people don’t always see is the leadership and standards he brings to an environment.

"He’s a key driver of our environment and a brilliant example for our younger players. I am delighted he’s staying with us.”

Telusa Veainu Career And Rugby Journey

Veainu began his rugby career in New Zealand and progressed through Canterbury, later representing New Zealand Under-20s at the 2010 World Championship.

He enjoyed a strong tournament, scoring five tries, including a hat-trick in the final, before going on to make 34 appearances and score 21 tries for Canterbury.

He moved to England in 2015 to join Leicester Tigers and quickly became one of the PREM's most exciting backs. During five seasons at the club, he made 80 appearances and scored 32 tries, while also helping Leicester win the Anglo-Welsh Cup in the 2016-17 season.

Doncaster Knights Keep Experienced Back

On the international stage, Veainu earned 12 caps for Tonga and played at both the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cups. He later had a spell with Stade Français in France before returning to England with Sale Sharks and then joining Doncaster.

Since arriving at the Knights, Veainu has made 42 appearances and is now on course to reach 50 for the club next season.
