Lions came up with a dominant first half performance where they racked five tries as they thrashed Kings by 19-42 in their Super Rugby game at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.

Wing Michael Tambwe (2' and 24'), hooker Malcolm Marx (10'), fly-half Elton Jantjies (14') and flanker Jaco Kriel (33') were the try scores in the first half for Lions. Jantjies also added conversions on all five occasions to take the score to 35 points.

Flanker Anidisa Ntsila (1') and wing Yaw Penxe (17') crossed over for Kings in the first half with Lionel Cronje adding the conversion on the first try as Kings trailed by 23 points at half time.

Fullback Malcolm Jaer provided some early momentum when he went past the line at the start of the second half to bring down the gap to 16 points but they failed to carry on. After over 30 minutes went without a point, Harold Vorster crossed over in the 75th minute to seal a comfortable win for Lions.
