Hurricanes centre Riley Higgins has been ruled out for the rest of the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season after undergoing surgery on a shoulder injury.

Riley Higgins Injury Update

Higgins is expected to spend around six months recovering from the shoulder injury, ending his involvement in the current Super Rugby Pacific campaign.

The setback is a major blow for the player and the Hurricanes, with the team confirming that his rehabilitation process has already begun following surgery.

Hurricanes Suffer Super Rugby Setback

Hurricanes head coach Clark Laidlaw said the injury was disappointing for both Higgins and the team, particularly given the difficult run of injuries the player has faced in recent seasons.

Laidlaw said the club had supported Higgins through the early stage of his recovery and would continue to wish him well as he begins his rehabilitation.

“It’s disappointing for Riley and us for his season to finish in the way that it has,” Laidlaw said.

“He’s had a tough couple of years with injuries, so to pick up another injury is super disappointing for him. We’ve been able to support him through this period before he takes off and help him with the initial part of his rehab.

“We feel for him and wish him well with his recovery as he prepares to head offshore.”
