Gloucester Rugby fly-half Billy Twelvetrees is set to undergo a surgery following an ankle injury.

The 32-year-old suffered the injury during the recently concluded Gallagher Premiership game against Harlequins which his side went on to lose 24-34.

According to a report in Gloucestershire Live, Twelvetrees will need a minor surgery to address the issue which will keep him up to two months on the sidelines.

“Billy is a bit more severe [than Lloyd Evans, who was replaced in the 45th minute on Sunday after failing a HIA], he has got to have minor surgery which will take six to eight weeks to recover from," said Gloucester head coach George Skivington.

“He just got caught awkwardly in a tackle".

Gloucester are positioned ninth in the Gallagher Premiership table with a solitary win from three games and will face Lyon in the Heineken Champions Cup opener on 13th December at Matmut Stadium de Gerland.
