Glasgow Warriors have confirmed that head coach Danny Wilson has been removed from the head coach role following the club's quarter-final defeat to Leinster in the ongoing United Rugby Championship.
The result which saw them lose with a heavy margin on 14-76 was also their fifth defeat in a row that saw them eliminated from the United Rugby Championship.
They also had a rough outing in the Heineken Champions Cup after managing just one win from four games while also succumbing to a 35-27 defeat to eventual champions Lyon in the quarter-finals of the European Challenge Cup.
Scottish Rugby Chief Executive Mark Dodson thanked Wilson for his contribution but believed the recent results forced for a change.
“I’d like to thank Danny for his contribution to rugby in Scotland over the past four years," he said.
“He faced a challenging period taking on the Glasgow role mid-pandemic and while there have been several high points, ultimately recent results have not been consistent enough and given the importance of our two professional teams we needed to address that in a timely manner.
“I have a lot of respect for Danny and the professional way he conducts himself and wish him well in the future.”
Wilson had worked with London Welsh, Newport Gwent Dragons, Wales Under 20, Scarlets, Bristol, Cardiff Blues apart from being the forwards coach of Scotland between 2018 and 2020.
