Gloucester Rugby have announced that Freddie Thomas, the promising Welsh international lock, has signed a new contract with the club.
The 23-year-old has pledged his future to the Cherry & Whites, securing his place within the squad following his recent international debut against South Africa.
Thomas, a product of the Gloucester Rugby Academy, has emerged as a key player under Director of Rugby George Skivington.
Since his debut against Lyon in 2020, Thomas has made 50 appearances for the club, demonstrating his versatility by excelling in both the second row and back row positions.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new deal, Thomas said, “I’m thrilled to sign a new deal with my home club. Skivs and the coaching staff here have put a lot of time and effort into my development.
"I’m loving my rugby at the moment and I’m just trying to keep working hard to develop my game and get better. We’ve come a long way as a team, and there’s still more to come from us. I’m really excited to be part of the journey.”
George Skivington, Gloucester Rugby’s Director of Rugby, emphasized the club’s dedication to nurturing homegrown talent.
“We’re really happy to secure Freddie’s services moving forward. Part of our ethos here is to develop homegrown lads into regular first-team players and internationals, and Freddie is a great example of that.
“He’s already an established face in the squad at a young age, and he’s only got further developing to do, so that’s exciting,” Skivington added.
