Gloucester Rugby has confirmed the signing of centre Will Butler, who joins the Cherry & Whites with immediate effect.
Butler, a product of Ledbury RFC, began his rugby journey at Worcester Warriors at the age of 14. His development saw him play a crucial role in Worcester’s U18s’ Academy League title victories in 2016 and 2017.
Butler made his senior debut for Worcester Warriors in a Challenge Cup match against Enisei-STM in 2016.
After leaving Worcester, Butler expanded his experience with a brief spell in the RFU Championship with Hartpury RFC, followed by playing for Tasman Mako in New Zealand’s domestic competitions.
Internationally, Butler has represented England with distinction at the age-grade level. He was part of the England U20 team that secured the 2017 U20 Six Nations title and reached the final of the U20 World Championship the same year.
Director of Rugby George Skivington expressed his enthusiasm for Butler’s arrival.
“We’re pleased to bring Will into the building here at Kingsholm to bolster our backs. We’re going into a run of really competitive games, so having strength in depth in key areas will be critical."
Gloucester are positioned fifth in the Gallagher Premiership table with three wins from seven matches.
