Bath Rugby have announced the signing of former South Africa scrum-half Louis Schreuder ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The 31-year-old will head to the Recreation Ground in the summer after being part of Newcastle Falcons since last season.

Schreuder started his professional rugby career with Western Province in 2010 with his Super Rugby debut for Stormers coming a year later. He also had represented Sharks, Kubota Spears and Toulon.

His solitary Test appearance for the Springboks came in 2017 against Wales and was the vice-captain of the South Africa Under 20 team during the 2010 IRB Junior World Championship in Argentina.

“Louis brings extensive, high level experience in the southern hemisphere, at club and international level, and has proven his value in the Premiership during a successful spell with Newcastle Falcons.

“We are investing resources in the spine of the team, striving to ensure the squad includes at least two top quality players in the key positions.”

Bath currently are at 12th position in the Gallagher Premiership table with four wins from 18 games and will face Sale Sharks next on 26th March at Recreation Ground.
