Harlequins have secured the future of promising loosehead prop Fin Baxter, who has signed a new contract extension with the club.
The 22-year-old joins a string of key re-signings, committing to the team he has called home since joining as a 13-year-old.
Baxter’s rise through the Harlequins ranks has been rapid, with the talented prop already making 58 appearances since his senior debut against Racing 92 in December 2020. He quickly established himself as a key part of the squad that clinched the Gallagher Premiership title in June 2021.
Working under the guidance of former British & Irish Lion prop Adam Jones, Baxter has developed into one of the most promising front-row talents in the Premiership.
Despite being a specialist at loosehead prop, Baxter started his career as a tighthead, a versatility that has added depth to his game.
In the current season, he boasts an impressive 96% tackle success rate, further solidifying his reputation as a formidable competitor.
Baxter’s form for Harlequins has translated onto the international stage, earning him a call-up to the senior England squad in 2023. He made his full debut against the All Blacks in July, adding to his earlier achievements with England U18 and U20 squads. Notably, he captained the U20 side to victory in the 2021 Six Nations Grand Slam.
Reflecting on his extension, Baxter said: “I’m buzzing! I’ve loved my time at the Club, especially since coming into the senior setup at 18 years old – to sign a new contract is awesome.
"I’m enjoying my rugby, developing as a player, and we’ve got a great group of lads here. We’ve had a taste of success as a group but we want more opportunities to lift silverware.”
Harlequins Head Coach Danny Wilson praised Baxter’s rapid development and potential.
“Fin is an outstanding rugby player, who’s developed at a rapid rate during my time at the Club and he is deservedly earning the opportunity to represent his country on the international stage.
"He’s another homegrown talent that took their opportunity when introduced into the senior setup and he’s never looked back.”
