Gloucester Rugby have announced that England international Ben Morgan has penned a long-term deal with the Gallagher Premiership club.

Morgan started his professional rugby debut with Llanelli RFC in 2009 and also enjoyed stint with Scarlets before heading to Kingsholm in 2012. Since then, he has gone on to make close to 150 appearances for the Cherry and Whites including 106 Premiership games.

“It’s well documented how I feel about the club. I grew up as a Gloucester Rugby supporter and it was always a dream of mine to play for the club," said Morgan to the official website of the club.

“As such, I feel honoured to have worn the Cherry and White for so many seasons and look forward to doing so for several more and helping the club to achieve success on and off the field.

“I’m enjoying my rugby as much as ever and am genuinely enthusiastic about the direction we’re heading in under Johan. I didn’t have to think too long when talks started about a new contract and I’m delighted that it’s all been agreed so quickly.”

Morgan also went on to make his England debut in 2012 and has featured for the red rose team 31 times scoring five tries. He was also part of England's 2015 World Cup campaign which was also his last appearance at international stage.

“Ben has been a revelation for us over the past couple of years. He has worked so hard on his fitness and his skills in a bid to contribute as much as he possibly can, and it’s certainly paid off in terms of his performance," said Director of Rugby David Humphreys.

“He has also become a real leader in the group. That’s not just in terms of captaining the side on a matchday, he also helps to drive standards in all areas. We’re delighted that he’ll be staying with Gloucester Rugby.”
