Eddie Jones is expecting at least 10 to 15 England players to be part of the British and Irish Lions squad that will tour New Zealand in June 2017.

England under Jones had a phenomenal rise in the last one-year and they are on a 14-match unbeaten streak, winning the Grand Slam during the Six Nations 2016, whitewashing Wallabies in Australia for the first time and also winning all the four matches in the autumn internationals.

The run of form also saw England rise to the number two position in the World Rugby rankings behind All Blacks.

The 56-year-old former Wallabies coach believes the team that dominates the upcoming Six Nations tournament in February 2017 will have a major impact in the squad selection for Lions tour.

Jones told BBC Radio 5 Live: " The Lions selection will be based almost entirely on what happens in the Six Nations. I think if we have a dominant Six Nations I would expect anywhere from 10-15 of our players to be in the Lions squad."

When pressed on how many players were likely to be in the starting XV, Jones added: " I'll leave that to Gatland but a number of players have put up their hand strongly.

"I think you have guys who went on the last Lions tour like Dan Cole, Ben Youngs, Owen Farrell will be at the head of the queue."

The Lions are scheduled to play three Tests against the All Blacks while they will also take on the Super Rugby sides apart from their clashes against Provincial Union XV and Maori All Blacks with Warren Gatland selected as their head coach.
