Championship side Doncaster Knights have announced the signing of Wasps senior Academy player Tom Bacon for the 2020/21 season.

Bacon joined Wasps Academy from Henley College and has represented Ireland Under 18 in the past. He also had represented Rotherham Titans in the past on a loan stint.

The 19-year-old is excited about featuring in the Championship for the Knights next season.

“I am very excited to play for Doncaster next season, I know they are a very ambitious Club and as it’s my first season in the Championship I can’t wait to get as much as I can out of it," he told the official website of Wasps.

“I hope to bring pace and fast flowing rugby as I love get the ball in wide channels and take defenders on.

“Hopefully the season will begin sooner rather than later as I am raring to get involved and show what I can do.”

Wasps Head of Recruitment and Academy Kevin Harman is confident that the experience with the Knights will benefit Bacon.

“We are extremely pleased that Tom is stepping up to the Championship with Doncaster next season.

"Having the pressure to perform week in, week out will further test Tom and his professionalism, a test that we believe he will come through after an excellent grounding last year with Rotherham.”
