Ospreys have confirmed that fly-half Dan Edwards has signed a new contract to remain with the region, securing the future of one of their key homegrown players.
A product of the Ospreys development pathway, Edwards began his rugby journey with Cwmafan RFC and also featured for Aberavon and Swansea before progressing to regional level.
He made his Ospreys debut as a 20-year-old and marked the occasion by scoring a try off the bench in a West Wales derby, quickly establishing himself as a player of promise.
Now 22, Edwards has developed into a central figure in the Ospreys back line. Known for his composure, game management and accuracy from the tee, he has made more than 40 appearances for the region and accumulated close to 300 points. His consistent form has also been recognised at international level, earning him senior caps for Wales.
Edwards said staying with the Ospreys was a natural decision, describing the club as one he grew up supporting and one he remains determined to help return to competing regularly with the leading teams.
“I’m really happy to be staying with the Ospreys. Like a lot of the boys here, I grew up supporting this club and it was always a dream for me to pull on the black jersey," he told the club's official website.
“There’s a quality group of boys here. We’ve got a young core that play above their years and some experienced boys that bring it all together for us. We’ve shown that when we’re on our game, we can go toe-to-toe with anyone on our day.
“The staff and players here all want the Ospreys to be back where we should be, competing with the top teams and challenging for silverware. So if I can play a part in that, that is something that I will strive to do."
