Chiefs have confirmed that head coach Clayton McMillan has signed a contract extension until the end of 2026 season.
McMillan took over as the head coach of Chiefs in 2021 taking over from Warren Gatland and on his maiden season he guided them to a final in the Super Rugby Aotearoa and the semi-finals in the 2022 season of Super Rugby Pacific.
Having played for Bay of Plenty over 100 times, he took over as the head coach of Steamers guiding them to Mitre 10 Cup title in 2019. He became head coach for the Maori All Blacks in 2017 and five years later he was part of the All Blacks XV coaching panel for the northern tour.
“It was an easy decision to extend my current contract with the Chiefs Rugby Club and New Zealand Rugby," he told the club's official website.
“We have an incredible staff, coaching and management team, and playing roster who are aspirational and care deeply about the people and region we represent.
“It is rewarding to work in this organisation. My family and I are grateful for the opportunity to keep playing a part in it."
Chiefs currently are at the top of the Super Rugby Pacific table with seven wins from as many games.
