Joe Hawkins, Ethan Roots and Will Haydon-Wood to join Exeter Chiefs ahead of 2023/24 season

Exeter Chiefs have announced that Wales back Joe Hawkins will join the Gallagher Premiership club ahead of the 2023/24 season on a long-term deal.

Hawkins a product of Ospreys Academy, made his senior debut with the Welsh province in 2020. He has overall played 28 times for the club. Also having represented Wales Under 20 side previously, Hawkins has made five Test appearances - all of it coming 2022.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Ospreys and I’ve come along leaps and bounds in my time here.

“I have made some great friends here and would like to wish the players and staff all the best for the future.”

Haydon-Wood will join Exeter Chiefs from French Pro D2 side Massy Esonne.

"Over the years the Chiefs have been known for bringing through youngsters and giving them their chance on the biggest stages," he told the club website.

"I want to be part of that and to try and take the club onwards and upwards."

Meanwhile, New Zealand-born back-rower Roots has been with Ospreys since joining the Welsh side from Crusaders in 2021.

“Wales has been a home away from home for me and everyone and the Ospreys have played a key in helping me to settle.

“I have had the privilege of playing with some special players during my time here and want to thank the fans for all their support.”
