Brumbies have confirmed head coach Dan McKellar has committed his future to the Super Rugby club after signing a two-year contract extension.

The news on his contract extension comes after he won the vote of confidence from the board despite Brumbies missing the play-off berth for the first time in six years last season after winning seven and losing nine games.

McKellar previously worked as assistant to Stephen Larkham in Brumbies and took full in charge in 2018 when the latter went on to become the attack coach of Australia.

“I can feed the kids for the next couple of years, which is nice” said McKellar, who will remain with the club until the end of the 2021 season.

“But obviously I’m really pleased... you never take these opportunities for granted.

“The club has made the decision early, so it’s a vote of confidence in myself, my staff and the playing group as a whole.”

Brumbies will open the 2019 Super Rugby season with a clash against Rebels on Saturday at GIO Stadium.
