Hurricanes have received a huge boost ahead of the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific clash against Melbourne Rebels with Brad Shields and Jordie Barrett set to make a return.
Shields sustained a foot injury at the start of the season and will captain them for the first time in six years since rejoining them in 2023.
"It's really good to have Brad back," head coach Clark Laidlaw said.
"He's itching to get started after training fully now for a couple of weeks. He not only provides a strong running and defensive game, but exceptional leadership as well."
Meanwhile, All Blacks centre Jordie Barrett completed his five game suspension for a high tackle during the game against Queensland Reds in March.
Hurricanes are at the top of the Super Rugby Pacific table after having won all their four matches.
