Bath Rugby have officially announced that both Ruaridh McConnochie and Louis Schreuder will conclude their playing careers with the club at the end of the 2024/25 season.
The news marks the end of a significant chapter for the two seasoned players who have contributed to the squad in different but meaningful ways.
McConnochie has been a prominent figure in Bath Rugby's setup since switching codes from sevens to 15-a-side rugby.
A former England international, McConnochie initially gained recognition for his performances with the England Sevens team before transitioning to the Premiership.
He earned two caps for England’s 15s and was part of the squad that reached the Rugby World Cup final in 2019.
Known for his pace, intelligence, and adaptability, McConnochie was a consistent presence on the wing and at fullback. Throughout his time at Bath, he proved to be a dependable backline option, offering a strong attacking threat and defensive reliability.
“I've loved my time at Bath – the club, the fans and the people have been brilliant.
"I’ve made friends for life here and have had experiences I’ll always cherish. It feels like the right time to step away and consider what comes next, but I’ll forever be grateful to this club.”
Schreuder, the experienced South African scrum-half, also leaves at the conclusion of the current campaign.
Although his stay was comparatively brief, Schreuder brought valuable leadership and calmness to the squad, especially during challenging match situations.
A former Springbok international with a rich career across the globe, Schreuder’s presence was appreciated not only for his gameplay but also for his mentoring role off the field.
“It’s been a privilege to wear the Bath jersey and to play in front of such passionate supporters. I’ve really enjoyed my time with the team and am thankful for the welcome and respect I’ve been shown.”
