Newcastle Red Bulls have confirmed head coach Alan Dickens will leave the club at the end of the current season following a year overseeing a period of transition.

Dickens joined Newcastle in the summer of 2024 and has guided the team through structural and squad changes during the campaign. The club confirmed his departure will take place in the summer, with further announcements on the future coaching setup to follow.
Sporting general manager Neil McIlroy thanked Dickens for his professionalism and contribution, noting his role in maintaining stability during the club’s reorganisation.
"Alan is a very well-respected coach who has made a significant contribution here," he told the club's official website.
“On behalf of the entire club I want to thank him for the professionalism he has shown throughout our ongoing re-organisation, and for his continued commitment in striving to finish the season strongly.
Coaching Background And Contribution
A former scrum-half, Dickens previously coached at Northampton Saints and with England Under-20s before moving to Newcastle.

Dickens said he remains fully committed to the team for the remainder of the season and wants to leave positive memories for players and supporters. He also expressed confidence in the club’s future under new ownership.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Newcastle and remain fully committed for the remainder of my contract.
“It’s no secret there have been some difficult times up here, but the people have been incredible and it has been a hugely fulfilling experience.
“It’s a very exciting time for the club with everything going on under the new ownership, and I mean it when I say I wish them every success for the future".
