Worcester Warriors have announced the signing of Melani Nanai from Super Rugby club Blues ahead of the 2019/20 season.

The 25-year-old becomes the eighth new signing for the Sixways outfit ahead of the new season.

Nanai started his professional rugby debut with Mitre 10 Cup in 2014 and went on to make his Super Rugby debut for Blues a year later.

He was also part of the Samoa Under 20 team that competed in the 2013 IRB Junior World Championship where he scored three tries from five games and also represented the Barbarians team that went on to register a 31-31 draw at Wembley Stadium in 2016.

“This is fantastic news for us. It means that Melani will be here before our training camp in Spain at the end of this month and he can also play a meaningful part in our pre-season,” said Warriors Director of Rugby Alan Solomons.

“I have said before that Melani is an X-Factor player and having him available for the first game is a terrific boost for us. I’m looking forward to Melani arriving next week and to working with him.”
