Ospreys hooker Scott Baldwin will miss the upcoming Six Nations campaign for Wales after sustaining a foot injury.

According to a statement released by the Welsh Rugby Union, the 29-year-old will need a minimum of five months for recovery.

“Scott Baldwin has been released from Wales’ NatWest 6 Nations squad due to a foot injury sustained in training," read the statement.

“The injury will require surgery with a recovery time frame of at least five months.

“Scarlets hooker Ryan Elias, who made his international debut last summer, has been called into the squad.”

In the absence of Baldwin, Ken Owens will be starting for Wales in the Six Nations opening clash against Scotland with Elliot Dee on the bench.

Wales are already without the services of Sam Warburton, Jonathan Davies, Taulupe Faletau, Dan Biggar and Rhys Webb as they are on the injury list.
