Flanker Dan Lydiate will be available for Ospreys in their Pro 14 clash against Connacht on Friday after he was released from the Wales squad.

Lydiate last played for Wales in December 2017 and missed the entire Six Nations tournament and the summer series this year following a bicep injury.

His involvement with Ospreys was further hampered when he picked a shoulder injury during their win over Zebre in the last week of September.

The 30-year-old joined the Wales squad this week but head coach Warren Gatland wants Lydiate to get some match time before the opening game of the autumn international series against Scotland at Millennium Stadium on 3rd November.

Following the game against Scotland, Wales will face Australia, Tonga and South Africa on 10th, 17th and 24th November with all the games scheduled to be played at Millennium Stadium.
