Ulster Rugby have confirmed that Cormac Izuchukwu has signed a new two-year contract extension that will keep him at the province until the summer of 2028.

The 25-year-old forward has developed into one of Ulster’s most exciting talents since making his senior debut in 2021. Izuchukwu has already earned three caps for the Ireland men’s national team, underlining his progress at provincial level.

Standing at 6ft 7in, Izuchukwu offers Ulster rare versatility, operating effectively both in the second row and the back row.

Izuchukwu said he was pleased to commit his future to Ulster, adding that he believes the squad is moving in a positive direction.

“I’m delighted to commit my future to Ulster Rugby for the next couple of years.

“I feel this team is showing a lot of progress and I’m buzzing to be a part of this team. I feel that I can kick on under the coaches here and continue my progression over the seasons ahead.”

Ulster general manager Rory Best described the extension as a significant renewal for the province.

“This is a really important renewal for us. Cormac has shown so much of his unique potential over the past season or two, with his profile of physicality and power helping to make him one of the most exciting forwards in Irish Rugby.

“He has earned national team recognition due to his performances, and we believe he has a very exciting future in front of him for both Ulster and Ireland.”

Izuchukwu’s current campaign has been interrupted by injury, with a foot problem limiting him to three appearances so far. Illness also ruled him out of Ulster’s recent United Rugby Championship derby defeat to Leinster. However, he is expected to return to action for Saturday’s trip to Connacht.
