Ulster 24-10 Leicester Tigers, Kingspan Stadium
Scorecard

Ulster came up with a better second half performance as they went on to beat Leicester Tigers in their European Champions Cup encounter at Kingspan Stadium on Saturday.

Leicester Tigers got off the mark in the 15th minute when George Ford kicked a penalty after Ulster were penalised at scrum but that remained the only points in the game from both the sides as the visitors had a slender 0-3 lead.

The Premiership side also had set back when Ford was yellow carded in the 22nd minute after pulling down Michael Lowry with a tackle. The England fly-half on his return also attempted a long drop goal that ended in vain.

Ulster seized the lead three minutes after the break when Alan O'Connor touched down and John Cooney kicked the conversion and soon the home side thought they got their second try on the board with Iain Henderson crossing over but was denied by the TMO after Nick Timoney was adjudged to have executed a forward pass.

Continuos attack from the Irish side paid dividends as Sean Reidy set the tone for Will Addison's try and Cooney slotted the extras as Ulster doubled their tally. Cooney further extended Ulster's lead with a penalty kick in the 69th minute and with six minutes left in the game, they got their third try through Jacob Stockdale that was improved by Cooney.

Manu Tuilagi managed to sneak a late 76th minute try with Ford converting it and Ulster's desperate effort to seek a bonus point was put off but they still secured a vital four point victory that saw them claim the first position in Pool 4.
