British & Irish Lions scrum-half Tomos Williams is set to undergo scans after suffering a hamstring injury during the team’s emphatic 54–7 victory over Western Force in Perth.

The influential number nine, who had already scored two tries, pulled up just as he dotted down his second in the 47th minute and was forced off moments later.

Head coach Andy Farrell confirmed post-match that the medical team will assess Williams’ condition in detail after allowing time for the muscle to settle.

“It’s a tight hamstring. You don’t know what these things are like. We will assess that.”

Farrell added that more clarity would come only after the player had rested overnight.

“We’ll only know in the morning… you’ve got to give it a little bit of space and see what the outcome is.”

Williams had already been managing hamstring tightness leading into the match, making this latest flare-up a potential cause for concern.

With first-choice scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park still recovering from a glute injury, Williams’ availability for the next tour matches—and potentially the First Test against Australia on July 19—is now in doubt. His early exit left Alex Mitchell to take control at nine for the remainder of the game.

Mitchell performed admirably, but the loss of Williams, who had been dictating tempo and combining effectively with fly-half Finn Russell, was a noticeable disruption to the Lions’ rhythm.

Reflecting the squad’s concern, centre Sione Tuipulotu praised Williams’ influence and expressed hope that the injury is not serious.

“We’re hoping it’s not too serious… he played really well today and is a bit of an energy plug.”

The Lions now await medical feedback to determine the severity of Williams’ injury.
