Wales will miss the services of tighthead prop Tomas Francis for the remainder of the series against South Africa following a concussion.

Francis sustained the blow during the opening game of the series which the Springboks went on to win 32-29 in Pretoria.

The 30-year-old will now have a 12-day compulsory stand-down period according to the latest World Rugby guideline and will head back home on Tuesday.

"Tomas Francis will play no further part in the Wales tour in South Africa following the concussion he sustained in the first Test match against the Springboks at Loftus Versfeld," read the statement.

"The WRU medical team have withdrawn Francis from the remainder of the series to allow him to optimise his recovery. He will return home to Wales tomorrow.

"Dillon Lewis, Sam Wainwright and Harri O'Connor are the remaining tighthead props in the squad."

The Wales squad will be leaving to Bloemfontein on Thursday ahead of the second Test that will be played on Saturday.
