South Africa assistant coach Deon Davids revealed that loose forward Pieter-Steph du Toit is unavailable for the opening Test against Wales to be played on 2nd July.

The 29-year-old recently linked with the Springboks squad after being part of Japanese club Toyota Verblitz earlier in the year.

Nevertheless, he is unlikely to be fit for the game in Pretoria as he is recovering from a surgery on his shoulder but is expected to be fit for the second and third game of the series.

“Everyone is available except Pieter-Steph du Toit, who is still busy with his rehabilitation,” said Davids.

“We will look at all the players available and see what is going to be the best combination for us going into this first Test match.”

Following the first Test, the two teams will be locking horns in Bloemfontein on 9th July with the series coming to an end with the third game that will be played in Cape Town on 16th July.
