Queensland Rugby Union have confirmed that winger Tim Ryan has signed a new two-year contract extension, keeping him with the club until 2028.
The new deal is another major boost for the Reds as they retain one of their most exciting young backs during the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season.
Tim Ryan Contract Extension Confirmed
He has scored 20 tries in 37 matches for Queensland, giving him a strike rate that ranks among the best in the club’s recent history.
The winger said securing a second contract with the same club was something he was proud of, adding that he is excited by the group of players at the Reds and the direction the side is heading over the next two years.
“It’s a really good feeling to sign your first contract but to back it up with a second contract at the same club is something I’m proud of,” Ryan said.
“Obviously, I’m very excited knowing the group of players we have going into the next two years at the Reds and the rest of this season.”
Tim Ryan Form In Super Rugby Pacific
Ryan has been one of the standout performers in the 2026 campaign. He has continued to grow into a more complete winger, with his recent performances showing improvement not only as a finisher but also in defence and contestable kicking.
He pointed to a try-saving tackle against the Blues at Super Round as one of the moments he valued most this season.
“I definitely feel my game has progressed. Improving my defensive positioning has been one key area and I thank (defence coach) Brad Davis and (fellow winger) Lachie Anderson for their help there,” Ryan said.
“A big tackle can provide so much energy to the team. Honestly, that tackle against the Blues was better than scoring a try.
His rise first caught wider attention in 2024 when he announced himself with a hat-trick against the Blues, helping build his reputation as one of the brightest young backs in Super Rugby.
Queensland Reds Keep Rising Winger
Ryan has also progressed on the representative stage, earning Australia A selection and scoring twice against Japan XV in Osaka last October.
