Stormers 14-33 Blues, DHL Newlands

Blues registered their second consecutive win as they outplayed Stormers with a 14-33 win in the fifth round of the Super Rugby at DHL Newlands on Saturday.

This is Stormers' first defeat of the season but despite that they are at the top of the South African Conference while Blues are at fourth place in New Zealand group.

Otere Black started the proceedings with penalty kicks on either side of a try from Joe Marchant as Blues raced to a 13 point lead in the opening quarter

The visitors soon stretched their lead to 20 points after Dalton Papali'i touched down at the start of the second quarter and Black followed with the conversion before Stormers got their first points on the board with a try from Sergeal Petersen.

However, Marchant's second try at the stroke of half-time ensured Blues finished the first half with a dominating 14-27 lead.

Stormers were desperate to reduce the arrears but Blues looked in control after Black kicked back to back penalties in the 55th and 63rd minutes which remained the only points in the second half as the New Zealand side completed a 19 point win.
