Scotland-Williamson Excited about Building Sixways Future

Warriors Academy youngster Christian Scotland-Williamson admits he is excited about building a future at Sixways.

The giant lock, who came on in last Friday night's win over Ospreys, is targeting regular game time this season in the first-team despite the competition for places.

He said: "My aim this season is to get a lot of time playing in the first-team. I want to try and cement a place within the squad and earn another contract.

"It feels great to play at Sixways. It's a fantastic stadium, there are a lot of great people and I'm really excited about building a future here.”

Since his arrival from Loughborough Students, Scotland-Williamson insists he has already made big strides.

He explained: "It's very different coming from Loughborough to being full-time. It's a lot harder and you have to be constantly on the ball.

"But I feel like it's going well. I'm making the transition physically and I feel like I'm in a much better shape.”

And he believes the improvements are down to a demanding pre-season.

He continued: "Pre-season has been tough and certainly something I've had to get used to.

"The training camp in Portugal was probably the biggest test I've had so far as it was just my second week here but we've all come out of it in a lot better shape and the run out against Ospreys was really a testament to that.

"There's a lot of good team chemistry already. The boys are all good friends off the field and it showed on the pitch last weekend.”

With Warriors away at Sale Sharks this weekend in another pre-season clash, the lock is eager to be involved again.

He continued: "I played against Sale in the LV= Cup last season so I would love to play them again as I feel like I've got a point to prove and I want to see if I can step up.”

And with the Greene King IPA Championship season fast approaching, the second-row says it would be a dream to play in the league opener against Bristol Rugby.

He said: "Fingers crossed I'll be on the teamsheet against Bristol. It would be a dream to be involved in such a big match live on TV.

"Hopefully we can start the campaign well. I'm pumped and can't wait to get going.”
