Scotland international Ryan Grant has made a return back to Glasgow Warriors after signing a short-term deal with the Pro 14 club.

The 31-year-old has made over 100 appearances for the Scotstoun outfit but after missing large parts of 2016 with arm and back injuries, he decided to join Worcester Warriors in January for a short stint.

The former British and Irish Lions prop trained with Edinburgh and played for them in August match against Newcastle Falcons but now has returned back to Glasgow.

"The opportunity to come up here is one I took with both hands.

"Not many players are lucky enough to come back here after they leave, I consider myself very lucky to have already played over 100 times for the club and hopefully I can add to that.

"It was good to spend a little while playing in the Premiership in England, learning different techniques from different coaches, but it also made me appreciate what a great club Glasgow is and I'm grateful to be back."

However, Grant will not be available for Glasgow's upcoming fixture against Benetton Treviso on Friday.

Meanwhile, head coach Dave Rennie has made nine changes to the line-up for the Friday's encounter as they bid to maintain their winning start in the season.

Tommy Seymour will start on the wing while Sam Johnson comes into the back division at centre and Peter Horne moves to fly-half with Finn Russell dropping out after breaking his nose in the victory over Munster. Scrum-half Henry Pyrgos also comes in along with forwards Alex Allan, D'Arcy Rae, Pat MacArthur, Brian Alainu'uese, Rob Harley and Chris Fusaro.

Matt Fagerson, 19, will join his brother Zander after signing a professional contract with the club until 2020.

He said: "Signing with the Glasgow Warriors is a dream come true. It's awesome.

"It was an easy decision for me to make. I had a good chat with Zander, he loves it here and I thoroughly enjoyed my experiences playing last year too. I'm really looking forward to the next two and a half years."

With four wins from as many games, Glasgow Warriors top Conference A with 18 points.
