Sale Sharks hooker Nathan Jibulu is facing disciplinary action after being cited for allegedly biting Harlequins replacement prop Will Hobson during Sale’s 26-17 Champions Cup round-of-16 win at the Twickenham Stoop.

The case adds to Sale’s front-row concerns ahead of this weekend’s quarter-final against Leinster.

Nathan Jibulu Cited After Harlequins Match

The alleged incident took place in the 69th minute of Saturday’s match. Jibulu, 23, has been accused of breaching Law 9.12, which covers physical abuse and specifically includes biting.

The complaint was lodged by the match citing commissioner and will now be considered by an independent disciplinary panel. A ruling is expected to determine whether Jibulu will be available for Sale’s next European fixture.

Biting Charge Could Bring Heavy Suspension

Under World Rugby’s sanctions framework, biting is treated as a serious offence. The low-end entry point is 12 weeks, the mid-range entry point is 24 weeks, and the top-end sanction can extend to 208 weeks, which is equivalent to four years.

If found guilty, Jibulu could therefore be facing a lengthy suspension at a crucial stage of the season.
