Nottingham Rugby has secured the services of scrum halves Sean Romans and Finlay Barnham for the 2014/15 season.

Barnham has agreed a two year deal and Romans has signed a one year extension which ensures continuity in a key part of the team and within the club's leadership group.

Romans joined the club during the 2011/12 season and has gone on to make 68 appearances, scoring five tries in the process.

Commenting on his decision to stay, Romans said, "I'm really pleased to have signed an extension to my contract and in the end it was a very easy decision to make.  I have a lot of respect for Martin Haag, Ben Johnston and Neil Fowkes and the way they like to do things and I believe that the club is going in the right direction."

"It's been a difficult season but it has still been enjoyable being part of this group.  We've got some great boys here and there is good news coming out of the club with the new investment.  I feel I've still got a lot to offer and I'm excited about next season.”

Barnham joined the club from Leicester Tigers and has been rewarded for his continued development.  He has made 83 appearances for the Green and Whites and has scored one try.  He has also captained the side on a number of occasions.

A delighted Barnham said, "I'm really pleased to be extending my stay here at Nottingham.  I've been here a long time now and it feels right for me to continue that.  From a personal point of view, this has been my best season yet, with me securing a starting berth in the league regularly.  The injury I had last summer forced me to have a rest and allowed me to come back refreshed and I've reaped the benefits of that this season."

"Knowing that the coaching team will still be here next season has been a big influence on my decision.  They've been great for my game and I trust in what they're doing.  We've got a good core of young players here at the club and I think it's important for us to keep that group together so that we can develop.”

Nottingham Head Coach Martin Haag said, "We are delighted to have secured the services of Sean and Finlay as they are very important to the group.  They have both had good seasons and as we look to build a stronger squad for next season having two quality players in a key position is vital.  They know our systems inside out and both have great leadership qualities."

"The two of them will be competing for the number nine shirt and having that competition will see them bring the best out of each other.  It's really good news for the club.”

The Nottingham squad for 2014/15 is starting to take shape after the signing of Dan Mugford from Plymouth and the confirmation of new deals for Campese Ma'afu, Michael Holford and Shaun Malton.
