South Africa international Rohan Janse van Rensburg will be part of Sale Sharks after signing a short-term contract with the Aviva Premiership club.

The 23-year-old will shift to AJ Bell Stadium later this week and will rejoin his Super Rugby side Lions in February ahead of the 2018 season.

His professional rugby debut came with Blue Bulls in 2013 during which he scored four tries from seven games and later switched to Young Lions and Golden Lions before representing the Super Rugby side Lions in 2016.

Van Rensburg also amassed as many as 10 tries during the 2016 season that saw him earn a call up to the South African squad. His only appearance for the Springboks came in November last year against Wales.

Sale Sharks rugby director Steve Diamond is pleased with his latest signing and is confident that he will contribute to the success of the club.

“Rohan is a powerful, highly abrasive centre and we are very happy that he will be joining up with us,” said Steve.

“He’s only 23 and I’m sure he will be an excellent addition to our squad.

“He was recommended by Faf De Klerk and Josh Strauss and everyone here is looking forward to welcoming Rohan to the club."

Sale Sharks are currently positioned 10th in the table of the Aviva Premiership with just two wins from seven games.
