Rebels 30-12 Brumbies, Leichhardt Oval
Scorecard

Reece Hodge scored a double as Rebels went on to defeat Brumbies with a 30-12 margin in the sixth round of the Super Rugby AU at Leichhardt Oval on Friday.

This is Brumbies' first defeat in the tournament despite which they occupy the top place in the table while Rebels now move to second.

Hodge started the proceedings for Rebels with a third minute try but the conversion went wide. Rebels increased the lead in the 16th minute when Brad Wilkin touched down after good work from Marika Koroibete with Matt Toomua improving it to make it 12-0.

Brumbies opened the mark when Joe Powell dotted after collecting a pass from Folau Fainga’a to reduce the gap down to five points but Rebels dominated the remainder of the first half with a second from Hodge (23') and Jordan Uelese (38') while Toomua kicked conversion and a penalty to ensure the first half ended with a 27-7 scoreline.

As Brumbies continued to make errors, Rebels with a 53rd minute penalty from Hodge extended Rebels' lead to 23 points. All the visitors managed in the second half was a try from Will Miller in the 80th minute that only reduced their losing margin to 18 points.

Brumbies will have a bye in the seventh round while Rebels will face Reds on 15th August at Suncorp Stadium next.
