A superb hat trick from winger Rod Davies was enough to see the Reds through to the final of rugby's Super 15 tournament.
Ben Tapui added a fourth try, while Quade Cooper added 10 points from the boot to seal a 30-13 win over the Blues.
First Half
After a positive start for the blues, Davies opened his account against the run of play with a superb breakaway effort after just 11 minutes, cooper adding the two points with ease.
The match turned into a war of attrition with both sides superb on the defensive side of the ball. Tapuai finally penetrated the blues defence for a second time, on the half hour mark finishing well after some superb individual skill from Cooper.
Cooper missed the conversion and missed a second, but with a lead of 15, they seem untroubled on the verge of half time.
Blues got on the scoreboard on the brink of the interval through lock Chris Lowery as he ran a superb line to take advantage of some slack Reds defending, reducing the score at half time to 15-7.
Second Half
Once again, the blues started the brighter, and an early penalty from Luke McAllister reduced the deficit to just five points with the thousands of fans packed into Suncorp stadium on the edge of their seats at the prospect of a tight finish.
McAllister scored another penalty, but not before Davies had added his second try of the match to regain the seven point advantage.
The lead was soon doubled as Davies completed his hat-trick, after superb work from Digby Ioane and Will Genia, with Cooper adding the conversion to bring his personal tally to ten.
Both sides rung the changes and the Reds were holding firm in defence as Blues threw everything at their opponents.
With the game beyond reach, Cooper added a late drop goal to cap off a brilliant performance from the home side, as they move onto face the winners of the second semi-final between the Stormers and the Crusaders.
