Springbok star Cheslin Kolbe has shared an encouraging update on his recovery from a broken jaw, one month after suffering the injury against New Zealand at FNB Stadium.
Cheslin Kolbe recovering from broken jaw
Kolbe fractured his jaw during South Africa’s 29-24 victory over the All Blacks on September 5.
Kolbe was forced from the field inside the opening 10 minutes, with Manie Libbok replacing him. Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus confirmed after the match that Kolbe had suffered a broken jaw and would not travel with the squad for the following Test in Baltimore.
The injury occurred during the third match of the four-Test Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series between South Africa and New Zealand.
Springbok star gives one-month recovery update
Kolbe provided an update on October 6, marking approximately one month since the injury.
“For all those asking and checking in. Half way there before I can finally chew a steak,” Kolbe wrote.
“But thank you to everyone for their well wishes! Cannot wait to be back on the field again! 1 month in. God is in control.”
Kolbe’s update suggested his recovery was progressing, although he did not provide a specific return date.
