Northampton Saints have confirmed the signing of Scotland international Gordon Reid for the remainder of the ongoing season.

The 33-year-old started his professional rugby career with Glasgow Warriors in 2010 and after seven seasons with the Pro 14 club, he switched to London Irish. He rejoined the Scotstoun Stadium based unit ahead of the 2019/20 season and was also part of Ayrshire Bulls after working on a partnership deal to feature for both the clubs in the season.

“I’m really excited to get this opportunity to return to the Gallagher Premiership and contribute towards what will hopefully be a successful season for Northampton Saints,” said Reid in a statement released by the club.

“This is a Club steeped in history and pedigree, and the team have played some quality rugby already this year, showing they are genuine contenders for silverware. So I’m looking forward to getting into training straight away and putting my hand up for selection.”

Reid made his international debut for Scotland in 2014 and has featured in 41 Tests including seven appearances in the 2015 and 2019 World Cup campaigns.

Northampton Saints scrum coach Matt Ferguson said Reid will provide cover to injured Alex Waller and thanked Glasgow and Ayr in releasing him.
