Bulls have confirmed the signing of South Africa international Nizaam Carr from Premiership club Wasps.

The 29-year-old is expected to join the Pretoria based club once the travel restrictions created following the pandemic coronavirus is eased.

Carr is no stranger to Super Rugby after representing Stormers between 2012 and 2018 making over 50 appearances for them. He also enjoyed two Currie Cup titles with Western Province in 2014 and 2017.

Following a loan stint with Wasps, he joined the Ricoh Arena based club on a permanent basis in 2018 making five Premiership appearances for them. With the ongoing season disrupted by the outbreak of Covid-19, Carr has now decided to head back to South Africa to be part of the Bulls and the director of rugby Jake White welcomed the decision.

“Nizaam needs little introduction and I’m happy that he has decided to continue his career with the Bulls,” said White.

“His ability to perform under pressure will only benefit the franchise while his experience will be used to mentor the younger loose forwards in the squad as well.

“He has done well in England and it is great to have his talent back on South African soil again".

Carr had represented South Africa in five Tests between 2014 and 2016 and was also part of South Africa Under 20, South Africa A and Springboks XV previously.
