Rebels flanker Sean McMahon scored a double to help his side secure a 28-31 marginal victory over the Reds in Brisbane during the Super Rugby 2016 conclusive round-robin encounter on Friday.

Winger Tom English (1) and scrum-half Nic Stirzaker (56) were the other try scorers for the visitors as fly-half Jack Debreczeni managed to convert all four tries in addition to scoring a crucial penalty which proved to be the difference between the two sides at Suncorp Stadium.

Flanker Liam Gill (48, 68) also managed to score a double for the home side, whereas scrum-half Nick Frisby (13) and centre Samu Kerevi (54) scored a try each.

Frisby successfully converted three tries, while centre Henry Taefu slotted the final conversion.

The outcome of the game proved completely inconsequential on the Australasian Group standings as despite the win Rebels stayed put on the eighth position in the table with 31 points, whereas the Reds remain in the ninth position after gathering 17 points from 15 games.
