Harlequins 19-20 Leicester, Twickenham Stoop

Jarrod Evans missed the decisive conversion at the end as Harlequins were edged out with a one point margin by Leicester Tigers in the latest round of the Gallagher Premiership at Twickenham Stoop on Friday.

The win has taken Leicester Tigers to the fifth position in the table with 33 points while Quins, who managed a losing bonus point remain at second with 37 points despite the defeat.

Handre Pollard started the proceedings for the Tigers with a 40m penalty goal in the 15th minute before Jasper Wiese extended their lead further with a dive in the corner in the 27th minute.

The South African fly-half was successful with the conversion as the visitors raced to a 0-10 lead before the Quins made their first response at the stroke of half time.

It was the Quins fly-half Jarrod Evans, who created the gap with a perfect offload for Tyrone Green, who in turn set up Nick David for their opening try. Evans also followed with the extras the teams completed the opening half with a 7-10 scoreline.

Four minutes into the second half, The Tigers almost secured their second try as Ollie Hassell-Collins picked up a Mike Brown grubber on the fly but was stopped from scoring. In the 50th minute, the TMO ruled out a try for Harlequins after the home side broke the 5m rule at the scrum on halfway to start the move as the scores continued to remain at 7-10.

Eventually the deadlock was broken in the 58th minute when Jack Walker dotted down at the back of a maul but his effort was cancelled out in the 62nd minute when Pollard and Hassell-Collins combined to send Mike Brown over the line for a try against his former side making it 14-17.

The 69th minute saw Pollard missed out on a drop goal but he made amends with a penalty goal a minute later to extend Leicester's lead to six points leading into the final 10 minutes. The decisive moment came in the 78th minute when Green finished over the line to bring the gap down to one point and just when they thought they would get away with another win, Evans' conversion drifted wide allowing Leicester to complete a 20-19 victory.
