Gloucester 36-7 Newcastle, Kingsholm
Gloucester Rugby ended their Premiership block in style, claiming a 36-7 bonus-point win over Newcastle Falcons at Kingsholm.
The Cherry & Whites showcased their new attacking approach, crossing the line six times to secure their second Linkhouse Gallagher Premiership victory of the season.
Gloucester wasted no time, opening the scoring within five minutes through Jack Clement, who went over in the corner after strong buildup play from Ollie Thorley and Josh Hathaway. Although Gareth Anscombe, returning from injury, missed the conversion, Gloucester took a 5-0 lead.
Newcastle attempted to respond but failed to capitalize on their first visit to the Gloucester 22. Gloucester quickly countered, with Christian Wade executing a chip-and-chase, linking up with Tomos Williams for their second try. Anscombe added the conversion, extending the lead to 12-0.
The hosts continued their dominance, with Seb Blake scoring Gloucester’s third try off a powerful driving maul, before Jack Singleton added the bonus-point try just before halftime. Gloucester led 26-0 at the break, comfortably in control.
In the second half, Newcastle Falcons finally found some momentum, with Jamie Blamire crossing the line for a converted try, narrowing the score to 26-7.
However, Gloucester immediately hit back through Christian Wade, who marked his return to the lineup with a trademark try, bringing the score to 31-7.
With five minutes remaining, Josh Hathaway wrapped up the game with Gloucester’s sixth try, sealing a comprehensive 36-7 victory.
