Bristol Bears have confirmed that Wales international Louis Rees-Zammit has signed a new long-term contract with the club, committing his future at Ashton Gate.

The 24-year-old returned to rugby union ahead of the 2025/26 season after a brief spell pursuing opportunities in the NFL and has made a strong impact since rejoining the sport.

Rees-Zammit has scored six tries in his opening eight appearances for the Bears, quickly re-establishing himself as one of the most dangerous attacking players in the Gallagher PREM.

Equally effective on the wing or at full-back, Rees-Zammit’s pace and finishing ability have suited Bristol’s attacking approach under director of rugby Pat Lam.

One of his standout moments came against Leicester Tigers, when he raced clear late in the match to score his first home try for the club after being clocked as one of the fastest players on the field.

Rees-Zammit said he was pleased to commit his future to Bristol, describing the club as the right environment for him to express himself and grow as a player.

“I’m incredibly happy to have committed my future to Bristol Bears. This is the perfect club for me and I’m excited to see what we can achieve here.

“The environment here allows me to express myself and play the game the way I love, and that brings out the best in me.

"Running out at Ashton Gate in front of huge crowds and feeling that energy from the fans is special, and it makes me excited about what we can build together in the years ahead.”
